Unveiling Exciting Highlights from MCS Kickoff Challenge

Exciting Highlights from MCS Kickoff Challenge

The MCS Kickoff Challenge just ended, bringing an exciting first Ultimate Team Tournament to the Madden Championship Series (MCS) 25 season. Players from all over the country fought at the Full Sail University in Orlando for a chance to win part of the $150,000 prize pool and to reach the Ultimate Madden Bowl. Fans got to see great strategy and skill in action. Let’s recap what happend in the competition.

Overview of the NFL Madden event highlights

The favorite of the MCS Kickoff is the winner of the first MCS Tournament (Kickoff Classic) JonBeast. Will he be able to win back to back titles? Which of the other 7 participants will be able to challenge him? Fancy, Prodigy, Abram and Astro are experienced players. Or will one of the 3 newcomers Sho Tyme 757, Milk, TuhMear make an upset?

MCS Kickoff Challenge Bracket

T. Lawrence passing to Maserati Marv everywhere you look

The first match of the quarterfinals is between #1Seed JonBe ast and #8 Milk and the veteran made it clear that he wants to win it all again. 21 unanswered points at the start of the game gave JonBeast a clear lead which he never gave up until the end. Milk never got into his groove and not only threw 4 interceptions, but also failed to stop JonBeast’ offense. He was able to improve the score board a bit in the second half, but the winner was never in doubt.

Two veterans meet in the second quarterfinal in Astro and Prodigy. In my opinion the biggest match-up in the Round of 8. Astro was able to score early but could not convert the extra point. There was some confusion but the referee ultimately ruled that there was no lag. Unbothered by that, Astro build a 27:14 lead at Half-Time by heavily relying on the Trevor Lawrence – Marvin Harrison combo. The crucial moment was in the beginning of the second half. Prodigy had the ball on the 1 yard line but threw an interception in the endzone. Both players threw an interception each afterwards. Astro was able to close out the game without any points in the second half.

Astro vs. Prodigy

  • (6:0) T. Lawrence 50 yards pass to Maserati Marv

  • (27:14) T. Lawrence 6 yards pass to TheDuke
  • Pass intercepted by Astro Half-Time
  • Pass intercepted by Astro
  • Pass intercepted by Prodigy
  • Pass intercepted by Astro

In the third quarterfinal, Rookie Sho Tyme 757 has a tough match up against Abram, who also participated last week in the Kickoff Classic but lost to JonBeast. The game went on to be a real nail-biter. Both players constantly tied each others scores and it came down to who can better manage the clock. In the end, Abrams kicked a Field Goal with under 20 seconds to go and secured his spot in the semi-finals. Sho Tyme played a really good game though and proved that he had a right to be here.

Sho Tyme 757 vs. Abram

  • (0:7) 5 yards run by R. Williams
  • (0:14) Fumble Recovery for 6 by J. Chinn

  • (28:21) McCarthy 20 yards pass to Maserati Marv
  • (28:28) T. Lawrence 21 yards pass to TheDuke
  • (28:35) Pick 6 by Wiggins
  • (35:35) McCarthy 23 yards pass to TheDuke
  • (35:38) 19 yards Field Goal by Tucker
  • Pass intercepted by Abram End of Game

The last quarterfinal again was a matchup between a veteran and a Rookie. Fancy, an incredible talented player, took on newcomer Tuhmear. Fancy looked unstoppable in this game. He scored with passes, he scored with runs. Tuhmear did not seem to find an answer for the dominating offense of Fancy.

Fancy vs. Tuhmear

  • (7:0) T. Lawrence 21 yards pass to Jones Jr.
  • (14:0) 4 yards run by D. Henry

  • (24:14) 22 yards Field Goal by J. Tucker Half-Time
  • Pass intercepted by Fancy
  • (31:14) T. Lawrence 23 yards pass to R. Williams End of Game

Defense wins Semi-Finals

Abram wanted to avenge his loss in the Kickoff Classic in the first semi-final. I was expecting a high powered, offensive spectacle and yes both players found ways to score. But in the end, the better defensive performance from Abram won him the game. 2 pass interceptions and multiple stops on 4th down gave him the advantage. His trust in his defense allowed him to comfortably kick Field Goals instead of going for risky 4th down plays. Abram came prepared and had the better outcome this time and now finds himself in the final of the Kickoff Challenge playing for $ 50k.

Abram vs. JonBeast

  • Pass intercepted by Abram
  • (3:0) 29 yard Field Goal by J. Tucker
  • (3:7) T. Lawrence 30 yards pass to Jones Jr.
  • (10:3) T. Lawrence 14 yards pass to Maserati Marv
  • (13:7) 31 yard Field Goal by J. Tucker
  • (13:14) T. Lawrence 54 yards pass to X. Worthy
  • (20:14) T. Lawrence 15 yards pass to Maserati Marv
  • Pass intercepted by Abram
  • (27:14) T. Lawrence 6 yards pass to Maserati Marv Half-Time
  • (34:14) T. Lawrence 89 yards pass to TheDuke
  • (34:21) T. Lawrence 8 yards pass to Maserati Marv
  • (37:21) 16 yard Field Goal by J. Tucker
  • (37:29) T. Lawrence 13 yards pass to TheDuke + 2-point conversion End of Game

Offensive Maestro Astro meets Fancy, who finally wants to win his first title, in the second semi-final. And boy was this a dominant performance from Fancy. Offensively, defensively, he could do no wrong. His switch sticks mechanics on defense were just unbelievable. He was just everywhere at the same time. Despair could be seen in the face of Astro at half-time already. Astro in despair after Halftime in the MCS Kickoff challenge final

His confidence, which he is usually so proud of, just did not work. “The better you are at offense like making reads, the better you are at switch stick. I’m not looking at my user, I’m reading the field. What’s gonna be open and switch sticking based on that” he said about how he got so good at it.

Astro vs. Fancy:

  • Pass intercepted by Fancy
  • (0:3) 37 yards Field Goal by J. Tucker
  • (0:10) T. Lawrence 14 yards pass to X. Worthy
  • Pass intercepted by Fancy
  • (0:17) 3 yards run by D. Henry
  • (3:17) 32 yards Field Goal by J. Tucker
  • (3:24) T. Lawrence 60 yards pass to X. Worthy
  • Pass intercepted by Fancy
  • (3:31) T. Lawrence 16 yards pass to TheDuke
  • (3:38) T. Lawrence 73 yards pass to Jones Jr.
  • (10:38) T. Lawrence 63 yards pass to MaseratiMarv
  • Pass intercepted by Astro
  • Pass intercepted by Fancy End of Game

Offensive Power meets Defensive Mastermind

So Fancy wants to finally get his first title against Abram, who just beat the tournament favorite. Will he be able to finally get his belt? The game started with a Field Goal and a fumble recovery by Fancy which turned into a TD. 10:0 in front, it looked like a one-sided game again, but Abram was able to find a little bit of offensive success getting a touchdown back. It went back and forth and Abram managed to keep a 3 point deficit, but a quick TD pass to Jones Jr. and a Field Goal at the end of the half gave Fancy a 27:14 lead. A quick 57 yards pass from Trevor Lawrence to Xavier Worthy for a Touchdown gave Abram a glimpse of hope, but not for long. Fancy answered back and cruised to a 39:27 win and his first MCS title. And what a dominant run it was, truly deserving of a win. Everyone else needs to practice their defense now to compete with him in the next tournaments. “This is the most confident I’ve ever been. I came here saying I’m winning the belt and I did it.” showed his tremendous confidence before the tournament.

Fancy vs. Abram

  • (3:0) 28 yards Field Goal by J. Tucker
  • Fumble Recovered by Fancy
  • (10:0) T. Lawrence 14 yards pass to MaseratiMarv
  • (10:7) 2 yards run by R. Williams
  • (17:7) T. Lawrence 42 yards pass to MaseratiMarv
  • (17:14) T. Lawrence 29 yards pass to X. Worthy
  • (24:14) T. Lawrence 24 yards pass to Jones Jr.
  • (27:14) 13 yards Field Goal by J. Tucker Half-Time
  • (27:21) T. Lawrence 57 yards pass to X. Worthy
  • (34:21) 4 yards run by D. Henry
  • (37:21) 24 yards Field Goal by J. Tucker
  • (37:27) T. Lawrence 6 yards pass to Jones Jr.
  • (39:27) Failed 2-point conversion, Interception brought back to the house End of Game

And the best thing comes now. You can learn to improve your defense by Fancy himself. We show you, where you can book a session with him here.
